Altitude Sickness Prevention 

​

Whether you are climbing Mt. Fuji, skiing in the high mountains of Colorado, or embarking on your dream trip to Machu Picchu, altitude sickness can affect your health and enjoyment while traveling.

Altitude sickness can occur at elevations of approximately 2,400 meters (8,000 feet) and above. With proper preparation, the risk can be reduced.

Cedar Medical Clinic Tokyo provides Acetazolamide (Diamox®), a medication shown to significantly decrease the likelihood of developing altitude sickness. Our physician will carefully explain how and when to take the medication, along with important precautions, so you can travel with greater confidence and peace of mind.

Price:  5,500 yen - includes 6 tablets of Acetazolamide and consultation fee

  • Take 1/2 tablet twice daily, starting the day before ascending to high altitude.

  • Continue taking it for 2–3 days while at high altitude

Malaria Prophylaxis

Traveling to certain regions of the world can expose you to malaria, a mosquito-borne infection that can cause serious illness. With proper preparation, the risk of malaria can be significantly reduced.

​

Cedar Medical Clinic Tokyo provides malaria prevention consultations and prescribes appropriate preventive medications based on your destination, travel plans, and individual health needs. We offer Malarone® (atovaquone/proguanil), a commonly used malaria prophylaxis medication known for its effectiveness and convenient dosing schedule. 

​

Our physician will review your travel itinerary, explain how to take the medication correctly, and discuss additional precautions such as mosquito bite prevention.

​

Price: 700 yen per tablet + 3,300 yen consultation fee 

  • Take 1 tablet once daily

  • Start 1–2 days before entering a malaria-risk area.

  • Continue taking it every day while in the malaria-risk area.

  • Continue taking it for 7 days after leaving the malaria-risk area.
