Hiroaki L. Hayashi, MD
Born in Chicago, Dr. Hayashi spent most of his childhood in Tokyo attending international schools. He returned to Chicago for college and spent 17 years in the U.S. before moving back to Tokyo in 2021.
Dr. Hayashi is U.S. board-certified in Internal Medicine and has a special interest in diagnosing & managing complex medical issues and travel medicine. He holds an active license in the State of Illinois.
In his free time, Dr. Hayashi enjoys cycling, swimming, and doing anything active with his two girls. He also enjoys watching baking shows with his family.
Favorite food: pizza (NY & Detroit style), burgers
Favorite sports teams: Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Tokyo Yakult Swallows

Yumi is our friendly English-speaking nurse.
"I enjoy exploring different cultures and perspectives through food, and I love trying cuisines from around the world. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and spending time in nature. I especially love visiting waterfalls and taking in the peaceful surroundings.
I am dedicated to providing attentive care to each patient. I hope I can create a welcoming environment where both international residents in Japan and visitors from abroad can feel comfortable seeking medical care."
Rachel
Hello, I'm Rachel, originally from Hong Kong and a member of the Cedar Medical Clinic team as a receptionist.
I speak four languages (English, Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin) and enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. At Cedar, I support our patients through direct communication and social media, helping ensure they feel informed, welcomed, and comfortable throughout their healthcare journey.
Outside of work, I'm a big Harry Potter fan and have recently started a new hobby—camping. I also have a sweet tooth and enjoy baking desserts whenever I have the time. Whether it's trying a new recipe, exploring nature, or meeting people from different cultures, I love experiences that bring people together.
